Doing it backwards

It’s been a week now since our three London sites, kingsroad.co.uk, nottinghillgate.co.uk and fulhamroad.co.uk, were turned on. We thought we’d explain why we launched with mapping first as opposed to local editorial and content.

When we designed the product prototype, local news and editorial was an important feature for us. But the big challenge is making online content pay.

We have deliberately left out written content – apart from a local newsletter. We need to make it pay to create a business model which is sustainable.

With a critical mass of businesses mapped, we’ll have revenue opportunities and editorial will feature much more.

That’s why we’re going to do local backwards.
